Day 1 (Sunday) - Travelling, Dinner, Natural Light Show
Like all trips, we have goals. Goals to get on the road is by far the one that leads the way. After a great time at Kelsi and Billy's wedding on Saturday night, we were slow movers on Sunday. Oliver, the newest addition to our family kept us in check but so did my packing of our trusty Honda Pilot. Once we got loaded up we were ready to get on the road only about 2 hours behind schedule. No worries we are were all about to begin a long awaited, and well needed break away from it all.
However, we got a call from Jordan, that we missed the drop off for Oliver at his vacation spot at Puppy Paradise. Oliver then got sick and well, she and Ryan had to help get things in order. Welcome to pet ownership which we really have no idea what we are doing. But all is good and Oliver is doing great.
Our drive seemed to take longer but to be honest, it went fine. Jill now 16 and Jake 15, and Jen and I now seasoned kid family vacationers did this with a breeze. As we crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel (which was A M A Z I N G) we knew vacation was only minutes away. Jordan? Where was Jordan? Although no family vacation or event would ever be complete with Jordie, this was the first family vacation she couldn't be on as she prepares for graduate classes and her internship. I thought about this alot today. Part of me is super proud but another part of me realized our kids are getting older and family trips are becoming a very valuable commodity. I will talk about this later...
Once we arrived, we got the car unloaded. It definitely isn't Myrtle Beach but it is a beautiful hotel and we are surrounded by an awesome beach and so many restaurants in walking distance. We went over to a place call Lager Heads and had dinner inside. It was a good mean after a long day of travelling. But on the way back we saw an amazing light show of lightening out at sea. Needless to say we were tired and needed to get some sleep. We have a full week ahead!!
